Stories, we all have them. Some of them are conscious (I come from a certain place and family and I was raised and went to school there), and others are unconscious and linger in the back of our psyches and from time to time we become aware of them. Those latter stories have a profound influence on the way we live our lives. All those stories involve language, for how can any story be told without language?
Most of the time we are unaware of the language we are using to describe our place in life and how we are speaking about ourselves to ourselves: this is self-talk. We all do it. This is not the same as hearing voices, but we all have at least one voice inside telling us who we are and what we should or should not be doing. Whatever that voice is called,(super-ego etc.) we can get so used to it that we do not realize that it is no longer useful and that it may negatively influence our current behavior.
NLP is a cognitive approach that challenges old voices and belief systems. Working together using NLP we can discover positive language to harness your resources to define and refine your goals in life and together construct a roadmap to achieve them. Along the way you will also learn techniques for stress management. By using NLP negative self-talk can be changed into positive self-talk and anxiety lessened.
For example, arts professionals can benefit by using new ways to change performance and audition anxiety into a positive energy.
People in life transistions can use NLP techniques as coping tools to assist in moving forward in their lives.
Ericksonian hypnosis is a simple technique that can assist the client to find relaxation and to carry it into their lives.
I draw on my years as a stage, film and television producer who has real world experience both practically and artistically. I have a Masters in Counseling and a BA in Community and Human Services.
